Alexin, LLC:Bridging the Gap by Supplying the American Extrusion Industry
The crossroads of the Midwest aluminum extrusion market will soon meet at the site of Alexin LLC’s new state of the art facility in Bluffton, Indiana, where the label “Made in the USA” is poured with our remelted aluminum ingot.
As the prices of commodities fluctuate, Alexin LLC seeks to bridge the logistical divide. Consider the current state of supply and demand. Even though aluminum is the most abundant metal element in the Earth’s crust, the mining of bauxite — the source of aluminum— in the United States is negligible. Australia, with over 40 percent of the world’s deposits of bauxite ore, as well as the developing nations of Brazil, Guinea and Jamaica, supply a significant portion of the raw materials ear marked for North American smelters. On the domestic front, the economic opportunity costs associated with soaring energy and transportation prices reduce the financial incentives for American companies to produce aluminum from bauxite.
But with Alexin LLC’s Source-to-Source (S2S) distribution network in place, there is no longer a need for aluminum extruders to stress over the logistics of supply. Unlike other commodities, aluminum has an indefinite life span, as it is continually recyclable. Having implemented an eco-friendly recycling process, using just ten percent of the energy needed to acquire primary aluminum product, Alexin’s high-efficient natural gas production system significantly minimizes carbon emissions.
When the word ‘recycling’ is used in conjunction with aluminum, the first thought popping into the public mind is discarded beverage cans. Indeed, a nation-wide network of companies involved in efforts to collect and return aluminum cans to store shelves serves as a testament to the spirit of North American entrepreneurship. In a similar fashion, the recycling of numerous automotive parts, as well as other aluminum scrap captured from commercial or industrial projects, has extended the life of billions of pounds of aluminum. Whether its foil or aircraft frames, the North American desire to recycle produces a plentiful supply of energy efficient aluminum.
At Alexin LLC, 80 percent or more of our final aluminum product will consist of recovered scrap. This 4 to 1 recyclable-to-new use ratio enables aluminum extruders to actively seek inclusion in environmental friendly production initiatives, such as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDS) Green Building System.
The creation of Alexin LLC enhances the personal care, technical support, logistic proximity, and breadth of knowledge, offered to the aluminum extrusion market. Alexin LLC also seeks to link business interests to a host of compatible organizations. These mutually beneficial partnerships, supplied with a high-quality product and a superior regional focus, provide the impetus for Alexin, LLC to “Bridge the Gap” for its customers.
